疫情造成食物需求大 非營利組織籲民眾資助幫忙

紐約為新型冠狀肺炎疫情震央，許多居民受到疫情影響生活困難，雖然政府推出各種計畫幫助這些人，但在食物需求上仍有缺口；在布碌崙(布魯克林)社區深耕40年的非營利組織「大都會國際兒童事工」(Metro World Child)，從4月初到現在，在紐約各社區發放食物箱，至今已送出1萬2000多箱，該組織全職志工吳彥妮表示，由於需求量大，仍需要更多人資助，才能幫助更多有需要的人。

吳彥妮表示，日前一位同事送食物箱給一名住在法拉盛收容中心的華人媽媽，該名媽媽還帶著三、五歲的兩個孩子；她轉述，「那名媽媽說自己正在煩惱小孩子的牛奶已經沒了，結果食物就來了」，她說，因為疫情關係，這樣的故事每天都在發生。

由於食物箱仰賴外界捐助，吳彥妮說，現階段的目標是要滿足實際需要，希望每周可以募到5000個食物箱，幫助更多家庭。

So many extraordinary partnerships have been built there throughout the years. To the whole world, you may be only ONE PERSON, but to one person, you may be their whole world. Just like the ordinary Christian man who picked me up of a street corner where I was abandoned when I was 12 years old….
