‘The vast capacity that China possesses when it comes to land-based … cruise missiles and ground-based conventional missiles and where they are headed with ground-based hypersonic missiles represents an offensive threat throughout the region that is alarming not only to the United States but to all our allies and partners there as well,’ Adm. China has previously signaled a capability to strike Guam, test-firing its DF-26 ballistic missile in January 2019. Defense analysts nicknamed the missile‘Guam Killer’ because of its capacity to strike targets 3,400 miles away, which is within range of Andersen Air Force Base and Naval Base Guam.
