'It's Enormous!' Family Spots Moose Crossing Rural Highway in South Dakota
A moose forced traffic to stop as it crossed a highway in South Dakota’s Turner County as the sun was setting in the late afternoon of Saturday, December 5.
Coby Vander Kooy said he and his family were driving between the towns of Irene and Viborg when they spotted the moose trotting over the road under a peach-colored sky.
“It’s enormous!” Coby exclaims in the video.
According to local media, moose used to be rare visitors to the state, but South Dakota Game Fish and Parks say sightings are becoming more common, with some moose venturing down from North Dakota. Credit: Coby Vander Kooy via Storyful
