NASA9月送太空人出任務 首次含美國原住民女性

美國國家航空暨太空總署（NASA）9月29日將再送新一批太空人升空，機組人員首次包含美國原住民女性。

英國廣播公司新聞網（BBC News）報導，來自美國圓谷印第安部落懷拉基族（Wailacki of the Round Valley Indian Tribes）的太空人曼恩（Nicole Aunapu Mann）將在9月29日前往國際太空站（International Space Station），並擔任本次任務指揮官。

她告訴「今日印地安國度報」（Indian Country Today）：「這非常令人激動！」並說：「我認為向美國大眾傳達這點很重要，如此一來其他原住民孩子…也能意識到過去存在的一些障礙真的已經漸漸打破了。」

曼恩將與另外3名太空人乘坐太空探索科技公司（SpaceX）「乘龍」（Crew Dragon）太空船，任務編號Crew-5。

Crew-5是第5個前往國際太空站的輪調任務，機組人員將在太空站執行250項科學實驗。NASA表示這些實驗將造福地球上的生命，並為人類探索地球以外的地方做準備。

NASA證實，這次任務是曼恩自2013年成為太空人以來首度太空飛行。

2002年，來自契卡索部落聯盟（Chickasaw Nation）的赫林頓（John Herrington）成為首位飛入太空的美國原住民男性，當時他帶著聯盟的旗幟和傳統笛子一起度過13天的太空之旅。
