California Highway Patrol Vehicle Gets Stuck in Sierra Snow

While the California Highway Patrol was pushing tractor-trailers up the hill on a snowy Sierra highway on Wednesday, January 18, officers also had to push one of their own out of a snowbank.

The highway patrol had closed I-80 in the Sierras for several hours on Wednesday because of the snow, but the road was re-opened in the evening to all vehicles except tractor-trailers. Drivers were warned to use chains on their vehicles on the roads.

About a foot of snow fell overnight, and another 20 inches of snow were expected as a second storm moved into the Sierras Thursday night and Friday. Credit: Facebook/California Highway Patrol — Truckee via Storyful
