Snow Closes Highway in California's High Sierra

Heavy snow closed miles of I-80 in the high Sierra Mountains on Tuesday, January 10, and the road could remain closed for days.

The highway was closed from the Baxter exit to the Nevada state line, according to a report and a blizzard warning was issued for the Lake Tahoe region.

The California Highway Patrol unit in Truckee live-streamed video showing a plow moving snow in Soda Spring while a police vehicle is stuck in the snow. The narrator states the highway is closed and could be for several days because of the amount of snow and poor visibility. Area ski resorts are closed, he says, and the best day for travel won’t be until Friday. Credit: Facebook/California Highway Patrol – Truckee via Storyful
