美國夏威夷州茂宜島（The island of Maui）近日因野火侵襲致災，造成人員傷亡災損，逾萬人撤離，總統府發言人林聿禪今天（8/11）中午轉達蔡英文總統誠摯地慰問與關切，並盼當地人民平安，儘速回復正常生活。蔡總統下午也在推特（twitter）發文，祝福夏威夷茂宜島民眾平安，並盼望茂宜島能儘速從災情中復原。
林聿禪表示，除致上關切與慰問，蔡英文總統也請外交部向美方表達願意提供必要援助，並指示駐處掌握當地台灣僑民與國人狀況，協助確保安全無虞。
蔡總統推特發文如下：
My heart goes out to all those who have lost loved ones or have been affected in any way by the wildfires in Hawaii. I hope everyone in Maui is safe and that the island recovers quickly from this tragedy.
I have directed our Ministry of Foreign Affairs to convey to the US authorities that Taiwan is ready to offer assistance in disaster response and recovery, and have asked our officials in the US to ensure the safety of any Taiwanese people in the affected areas.
