Shaped-white boards can be seen added to the building, ahead of the celebration of the Luminaria Saint's Day 'Secret Code' project, Pisa - Jun 2015 FULL COPY: http://www.rexfeatures.com/nanolink/qrqe A photographer has captured a series of striking images of buildings in Pisa during the annual Luminara Saints Day. Every June, the city's residents hang hundreds of white shapes over their windows, shutters and doors to celebrate the city's patron saint day, called the Luminara di San Ranieri, which takes place on 16 June annually. The Luminaria white wooden boards are called 'biancherie'. Originally these boards should highlight the structure of houses, following accurately the shapes of doors and windows, but today they have been replaced by more curious and creative shapes. On the night of the 16th of June, these boards will host thousands and thousands of little candles for the celebration of the 'Luminara di San Ranieri' and Lungarni.
