Should a 3rd-party investigation the Stockton Police Department?
Outgoing San Joaquin County District Attorney Tori Verber Salazar wants a third party to investigate the Stockton Police Department's policies and practices. The announcement came Monday, after two Stockton police officers both appeared in court for the first time, facing charges in separate incidents that are not connected. Former Sgt. Nicholas Bloed is facing charges for allegedly sexually assaulting multiple women on the job, bribery, and prostitution. He's no longer employed by the department. Officer Ny Tran is facing fraud, forgery, and theft charges after prosecutors say he stole the identity of an elderly man in his 80s while responding to a call for service. He is on administrative leave. Both the Stockton Police Department and the Stockton Police Officer's Association sent statements to KCRA 3 regarding District Attorney Salazar's desire for an outside investigation.
