Air Tanker Drops Fire Retardant Over Dixie Fire in Genesee Valley
Firefighters dropped retardant over Genesee Valley in Plumas County, California, on August 25, as the Dixie Fire grew to over 742,700 acres according to officials that evening.
This video shows an airtanker dropping fire retardant on the Dixie Fire in Genesee Valley that morning. Fire crews were attempting to protect Taylorsville and the surrounding valley area from the advancing fire.
A spot fire on Peel Ridge in the Genesee Valley area burned very actively into the early morning of August 25, blending with a spot fire on Grizzly Peak, fire officials said that night. It remained an area of concern should it push east.
