American Girl’s new luxury dollhouse expected to cost up to $1,000

Yahoo Finance reporter Brooke DiPalma details American Girl's upcoming new product: a luxury dollhouse that's projected to cost up to $1,000.

DAVE BRIGGS: But if you're still gift shopping for the holidays, consider a $1,000 American Girl Luxury Dollhouse. This dollhouse, built for, of course, 18-inch dolls, includes a hot tub and a shower that makes water sounds and changes color if the temperature changes. The toy will run actually $600, but folks, that's just the base model. You're going to go well north of a grand with all the add-ons here. Look, Brooke, this is like the Mac daddy of dollhouses. It used to be the Barbie Dream House. Move over, Barbie Dream House. Now it's this-- would you go for the $1,000 American Girl?

BROOKE DI PALMA: As much as I would absolutely love to have this American Girl dollhouse, I mean, the price tag is certainly for someone who has a high income here. I mean, you could flip through the American Girl Doll playbook and gift guide for hours, just looking at these high ticket items to invest and give to your American Girl doll, but American Girl dolls, at least when I was growing up, it was really an investment here.

Now, as far as these investment meaning, Dave, you have it. And frankly, I still have all mine in my attic because they're going to be worth money one day.

DAVE BRIGGS: OK, you mean an investment that's actually going to appreciate.

BROOKE DI PALMA: I believe so. I mean, I still have Molly, my American Girl doll. As far as this doll house go, 1,000 ticket item, sure, fun for a few years, maybe pass it along to a friend. But it's definitely, when you think of the audience of American Girl dolls, I believe it's actually expanding. Their near Times Square location actually--

DAVE BRIGGS: It's insane.

BROOKE DI PALMA: --gaining attraction from Gen Z, young millennials, to go to that cafe. So maybe people will buy this 1,000 ticket item.
