DAVE BRIGGS: According to a new report, Apple is set to unveil a bevy of new devices this fall from watches to laptops. Yahoo Finance's Allie Garfinkle joining us now with the latest. Allie, what's coming down the road?
ALLIE GARFINKLE: That's right, Dave. Apple is reportedly targeting September 7 for the release of its iPhone 14 lineup. Now, the company has previously held big product events like this in September so not quite a surprise. But for everyone who's been on the lookout for an iPhone 14, we have a launch date for what will almost definitely be a virtual event.
Some things we're expecting to see could include the I4-- the iPhone 14 Pro getting camera upgrades, a faster chip. There are also some rumors that we'll see updates to the Apple Watch and a new generation of AirPods.
So Apple doesn't seem to have common yet-- commented yet. They haven't returned my request for comment. But I'll be keeping an eye on it. And I know I'm not the only one. Back to you, guys.
SEANA SMITH: You certainly aren't. All right, Allie Garfinkle, thanks so much. Dave, I have actually been waiting for this. So I still have an iPhone--
DAVE BRIGGS: Really?
SEANA SMITH: --10. And I have not upgraded in years. I've been waiting for this new phone to come out. I talked to our tech editor Dan Howley a couple of months ago. And he was saying that he would actually suggest waiting for this phone. That the camera technology is much improved, kind of like what Allie was just saying.
And he thinks it could actually really spur some of those people, like me, who have been hesitant or are just too lazy, maybe-- that was me-- to upgrade their phones to actually do so this time around.
DAVE BRIGGS: I'm surprised to hear that.
SEANA SMITH: So it could be-- yeah.
DAVE BRIGGS: I think what we haven't seen is a major step forward in quite some time as far as the new released Apple iPhone. So that will be the question. What really changes the game? And it's difficult when you have such an incredible device.
Camera is one. I think, for me, the only thing that will get me off the sidelines is an improved battery life because that is the one thing you hear from people all over the spectrum is the battery simply does not last long enough. And for me, I don't even know what model I have.
SEANA SMITH: Well, you know what? Just anecdotally, I've actually always wondered because you are all--
DAVE BRIGGS: I have no idea.
SEANA SMITH: You do so much of your research so much of your day-to-day on your phone. But your phone doesn't seem to die too often.
DAVE BRIGGS: I am at 12 hours plus a day on average as that stinking--
SEANA SMITH: Wow.
DAVE BRIGGS: --reminder tells me once a week.
SEANA SMITH: Wow.
DAVE BRIGGS: Yeah.
SEANA SMITH: That's impressive.
DAVE BRIGGS: It's problematic.
