Chaotic scenes from Brazil's capital

STORY: Footage captured by Reuters showed the moment the police faced off a group of pro-Bolsonaro protesters on top of the Congress building holding a banner reading “SOS Armed Forces.”

As hundreds gathered outside the lower house, the police fired tear gas to clear the mob out of the institution.

Other groups attempted to take the presidential palace and Supreme Court on the same day. Local media estimated about 3,000 people in total were involved.

Around 6:30 p.m. local time, some three hours after the initial reports of the invasion, security forces managed to retake the three buildings, GloboNews reported. TV images showed dozens of rioters being led away in handcuffs.
