《決勝時刻》系列最新作品《決勝時刻：現代戰爭III 2023》，在日前開放預購玩家搶先遊玩劇情戰役。然而不只是媒體給出超低分，許多玩家都同樣給《決勝時刻：現代戰爭III 2023》單人模式非常低的評價，更有人稱呼：「從頭爛到尾」
過去玩過《決勝時刻》系列就會知道，單人劇情戰役傳統，舊式劇情中出現的地圖有許多都是接下來同樣會在多人模式中出現，然而在《決勝時刻：現代戰爭III 2023》中，卻有不少劇情的地圖，都是上一代作品就有的多人模式場景。
甚至有許多人在網路上分享，《決勝時刻：現代戰爭III 2023》劇情戰役十分短，有些人表示快的話 4 到 6 小時就能通關。而知名 Twitch 實況主兼創作者 Moistcr1tikal 則是只花了 4 小時的時間，他給出的評價是：「他*的這真的有夠爛，比我想像的還要爛。完全不用想，這是有史以來最爛的《決勝時刻》作品」
Moistcr1tikal 還抱怨劇情戰役中，有一種類似《決勝時刻：現代戰域》開放式空間的戰鬥玩法關卡，實際上只是塞了一堆敵人在裡面給玩家打，上一代就有這設定，他不是很喜歡這樣，認為開發者連內容都懶得去設計，看起來更像是《決勝時刻：現代戰爭II 2022》的 DLC，內容空洞到讓人難以相信。
並且《決勝時刻：現代戰爭III 2023》修改過後的劇情，以及反派馬卡洛夫的呈現方式，都同樣受到許多老粉絲不滿。像是原本某些死亡的角色有豐富的劇情與互動，能呈現出小隊成員之間作戰多日的情感與個性，這點卻在新版中大多數都直接拿掉。

when in mw2 soap gets shot, ghost RISKS HIS LIFE to tell him to get up and go, we see his character develop from wanting to work alone to ACTUALLY CARE about soap

I keep finding more problems with MWIII's campaign. Compared to the original, it mostly feels bland and soulless to me. Like, I went back to watch Soaps death from MW3 (2009), and the level of emotion and how tense the moment is overall...the difference is night and day pic.twitter.com/qPO2g7LQ6I
