Cyclone Gabrielle Brings Coastal Flooding to New Zealand's North Island
A state of emergency was declared for parts of New Zealand’s North Island on February 13 as the approaching Cyclone Gabrielle brought gale force winds and rain to the region.
Residents in parts of Gisborne were told to evacuate on Monday as winds of up to 130km/h, large waves and rain hit the area, Tairāwhiti Civil Defence said.
New Zealand’s MetService said weather warnings were in place across the entire North Island on Monday.
