Drone Photographer Shares Spectacular 18-Minute Lava-Filled Footage From Icelandic Volcano
An Icelandic drone photographer captured footage of an impressive river of lava flowing from a new fissure that opened up at a volcano on Iceland’s Reykjanes Peninsula on April 5.
Björn Steinbekk recorded this footage showing the long and winding river of molten lava.
The Icelandic Meteorological Office said the crack is about 100-200 meters (328-656 feet) long, with thin flowing lava spewing from the crack.
The Department for Civil Protection said the area has been evacuated and public access has been closed. No injuries have been reported, according to the department. Credit: Björn Steinbekk via Storyful
