Thick Smoke From Cameron Peak Fire Blocks Sun Over Colorado's North
Thick smoke from the Cameron Peak wildfire plunged swaths of northern Colorado into darkness on October 14, as the blaze became reportedly the largest in the state’s history.
The blaze had torn through more than 167,000 acres as of October 16, growing by some 30,000 acres between October 13 and 15.
Mandatory evacuations were in place for much of the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forest and nearby areas, including Storm Mountain, Palisade Mountain, Buckskin Heights, and Buckhorn Canyon on Wednesday, the City of Loveland and Loveland Fire-Rescue said.
