Historic Texas Battleship Makes Journey to Galveston Bay for Repairs

A historic battleship journeyed from La Porte to Galveston Bay, Texas, on Wednesday, August 31, where it will undergo $35 million worth of repairs.

The USS Texas served in both World Wars and served as a museum and tourist attraction in La Porte, where the decisive battle in the Texas Revolution was fought. The battleship was previously taken to the same shipyard in Galveston for repairs in 1988.

Members of the US Coast Guard also escorted the 110-year old battleship on its journey toward Galveston to ensure its protection.
