Jackson Braced for Flooding as Pearl River Crests

Water gushed through the spillway at the Ross Barnett Reservoir in Jackson, Mississippi, on Sunday, August 28, as the state’s Emergency Management Agency warned that the Pearl River was forecast to crest at 35.5 feet on Monday.

Footage by Thomas Winesett, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service’s Jackson office, shows what he estimated to be 60,000 cubic feet per second of discharge water rushing through the spillway following last week’s heavy rain.
