Large Fire Burning in Eastern New Jersey is 100% Contained, Officials Say

A wildfire that burned over 5,000 acres in New Jersey’s Bass River State Forest was 100% contained as of Saturday, June 3, the New Jersey Forest Fire Service said.

The fire started burning on Wednesday and threatened a handful of nearby structures including a campground, which was evacuated, according to the fire service. On Friday, smoke from the fire prompted officials to close portions of the Garden State Parkway, local news reported.
