JARED BLIKRE: Time now for News on the Move. Devastating floods in Europe have killed over 120 people, with scores more unaccounted for. Germans and Belgians are grappling with landslides, power outages, and dangerously rising water levels. According to CNN, in one German district, as many as 1,300 people may be missing. Authorities are saying it is possible that some people may have been registered as missing multiple times.
And more US sanctions against Chinese officials over their crackdown on Hong Kong suffrage. President Biden's Treasury Department is sanctioning seven deputy directors in the liaison office for systematically undermining the semiautonomous region's Democratic institutions. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said in a statement, quote, "Today, we send a clear message that the United States resolutely stands with Hong Kongers."
Finally, Yankees and Red-- excuse me. Finally, Yankees and Red Sox fans will be tuning into the first game of the series tonight, but at least six players won't be joining them after testing positive for COVID, including all-star outfielder Aaron Judge. This follows an outbreak in May that sidelined over a dozen Yankees coaches-- half a dozen, rather. General Manager Brian Cashman is saying of the current situation, quote, "It's a fluid situation that could spread. It has spread to some degree."
