Over 60 Structures Destroyed by Mosquito Fire in Northern California

The Mosquito fire in Northern California burned 58,544 acres (about 91 square miles) and was 20 percent contained on Wednesday, September 14, according to Cal Fire.

The Placer County Sheriff’s Office reported that 64 structures had been destroyed and 10 structures had been damaged due to the fire burning in parts of Placer County and El Dorado County, California.

According to Cal Fire, fire activity “increased significantly” on Tuesday, September 13, due to increased ventilation and available oxygen to support burning.

Evacuation orders remain in place in both Placer County and El Dorado County.
