Paris 2024 unveils Olympic torch for the first time

STORY: French athletes, Paris 2024 officials celebrated the moment with the surprise presence of multiple Olympic champion Usain Bolt.

The design of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic torch imitates the reflection of the Eiffel Tower on the ruffled surface of the Seine river and conveys a peaceful energy, designer Mathieu Lehanneur said.

Made in lightweight polished steel in a champagne color, the torch's lower half features a relief pattern that mimics the movement of the Seine, along which the opening ceremony will be held before more than half a million spectators.
