Photographer Drives Through Raging Hennessey Fire in Napa County

Wildfires in Napa and Sonoma counties erupted on August 17 and spread as the region was being pelted by dry lightning strikes, according to reports.

This video showing smoke and flames from the Hennessey Fire on August 18 was shot by photographer Ethan Swope as he drove through the blaze.

Evacuation orders were issued for residents of the two counties in Northern California as firefighters continued to battle the LNU Lightning Complex, a group of fires that includes the Hennessey Fire.

The Hennessey Fire had burned 105,000 acres, destroyed one structure and two outbuildings, and was 0 percent contained as of August 20, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
