Plane Drops Retardant on Santa Barbara County as Alisal Fire Grows
The rapidly expanding Alisal Fire reached 16,801 acres (over 26 square miles) on Thursday, October 14, forcing evacuations in Santa Barbara County, California, according to official reports.
The fire began on Monday, October 11, and quickly prompted evacuations in Arroyo Hondo Canyon, Refugio Canyon, and other areas. As of Thursday afternoon, the fire stood at 11 percent containment.
