Rains Hit Flagstaff Amid Widespread Flooding in Northern Arizona

Thunderstorms were causing flash floods across northern Arizona on Wednesday, August 24, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

This footage from Mitch Strohman shows a heavy downpour in Flagstaff soon after the local National Weather Service (NWS) office warned of the risk of flooding in low-lying area of the city.

Storms continued through the afternoon, prompting the City of Flagstaff to warn residents in some areas to seek shelter from flash floods.

Along with flash floods, winds of up to 60 mph and coin-sized hail were possible in parts of northern Arizona, the NWS said. Credit: Mitch Strohman via Storyful
