Satellite Imagery Shows Storm Daniel Landfall in Libya

Time lapse footage shows the evolution of Storm Daniel before it made landfall in Libya on September 10, killing more than 2,000 people, reports said.

More than 10,000 others were believed missing, according to the Libyan Red Crescent Society via the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

The storm moved over the Mediterranean Sea before hitting eastern Libya with winds of 70-80 km/hr and “torrential” rains that burst dams and unleashing catastrophic flooding in the coastal city of Derna.

This time lapse begins September 8 and shows Daniel’s progress through September 11. Credit: CSU/CIRA & NOAA via Storyful
