TAIPEI (TVBS News) — SEMI announced on June 21 (Fri.) that SEMICON Taiwan 2024, the island's premier annual semiconductor event, will unfold at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center from Sept. 4-6. With the theme "Breaking Limits: Powering the AI Era," the event is poised to delve into the semiconductor technology's pivotal role in advancing artificial intelligence (AI), a key driver for the future of semiconductors and smart technology.

Terry Tsao, global chief marketing officer and president of SEMI Taiwan, emphasized the AI wave's significant impact on the market's dependency on semiconductor technology. From advanced nodes beyond 3nm to Silicon Photonics and Compound Semiconductor, the industry is gearing up to meet the burgeoning demands of AI applications. Tsao's insights underscore the critical juncture at which the semiconductor industry stands, poised to leap forward in innovation and implementation.

Showcasing Innovation and Global Collaboration

SEMICON Taiwan 2024 promises an expansive showcase with over 1,000 exhibitors across 3,600 booths, featuring industry giants like Applied Materials and Delta Electronics. This year's exhibition is distinguished by its introduction of 16 diverse themes, including green manufacturing and smart mobility. Notably, the event will launch an AI Zone for the first time, bringing together key semiconductor manufacturers to exhibit advanced R&D technologies in the AI chip supply chain.

The exhibition is not just a platform for showcasing groundbreaking technology but also a hub for international collaboration. With 13 country pavilions, including new additions from France, Malaysia, and the Philippines, SEMICON Taiwan 2024 aims to foster global cooperation in the semiconductor industry. More than 20 international forums will feature industry leaders from TSMC, ASE, and Microsoft, discussing innovation trends and the future of semiconductor technology, with the CEO Summit kicking off on Sept. 3.

According to Tsao, "The AI wave has strengthened the market's reliance on semiconductor technology, starting from the advanced node of beyond 3nm, advanced packaging (CoWoS, Chiplet, etc.) to Silicon Photonics and Compound Semiconductor." His statement highlights the collaborative effort across the semiconductor industry. From upstream to downstream, companies are uniting to confront current challenges and expedite the adoption of AI applications.

As SEMICON Taiwan 2024 approaches, anticipation builds for an event that will showcase the latest in semiconductor technology and set the stage for future innovations. The focus on AI andextensive international participation underscore the global importance of the semiconductor industry in shaping the future of technology.

SEMI is Taiwan's leading microelectronics industry association with programs that help members grow their business and address top challenges worldwide.
