Smoke From Emergency-Level Bushfire Blankets Sky in Ellerslie, New South Wales

Smoke from an emergency-level bushfire covered the horizon at Ellerslie, New South Wales, on December 30.

Fire activity at the Dunns Road blaze was increasing on the Monday, with residents told to seek shelter as it was “too late to leave”.

“Firefighters, supported by heavy plant machinery, are working to slow the progress of the fire and strengthen containment lines,” the New South Wales Rural Fire Service said in a warning statement.
