South Australia Opens World's Biggest Lithium Ion Battery
The world’s largest lithium ion battery was completed in South Australia, Premier Jay Weatherill announced on Friday, December 1.
Tesla Motors founder Elon Musk developed the giant energy project, agreeing to finish construction within 100 days or provide it for free to South Australia. It was completed on schedule.
The Sydney Morning Herald reported the battery could power 30,000 homes, complementing the state’s existing energy sources, 40 per cent of which come from wind. Credit: Jay Weatherill via Storyful
