Stockton's Dignity's Alcove furnishings stolen ahead of reopening

A fresh coat of paint, smooth walls, a soft rug, a fireplace, and no shortage of group support: This is the fresh start at a new home that a group of homeless veterans formerly living at downtown Stockton’s Dignity’s Alcove building has been waiting for. In February, conditions deemed "deplorable" led to the building being condemned. Ceilings leaked, walls crumbled, heaters did not work, and veterans reported taking cold showers because of a lack of running hot water.
