Street Artist Repairs Defaced Marcus Rashford Mural

A mural of English soccer player Marcus Rashford in the Manchester suburb where he grew up was repaired and hundreds of messages were left in support after the footballer was subject to racial abuse following England’s Euro 2020 final loss.

Abusive graffiti was left on the mural on Moorefield Street in the Manchester suburb of Withington within hours of the match ending on Sunday night, reports said.

Hours after it was defaced, local residents covered the mural with messages in support of the 23-year-old forward.

The artist who created the mural, Akse, removed the graffiti entirely late Tuesday morning.

Greater Manchester Police said they are treating the graffiti as “racially motivated” and said they are investigating. Credit: Steven Allen via Storyful
