TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Premier Cho Jung-tai (卓榮泰) welcomed a Czech delegation led by Czech Senate Vice President Jiří Drahoš (德拉霍斯) on Wednesday (June 12), highlighting the deep democratic alliance between Taiwan and the Czech Republic.

Cho emphasized the numerous memorandums signed since 2016 in various fields, including technology, education, culture, and trade, which showcase strong bilateral cooperation.

The Premier pointed out joint efforts in semiconductor research and supply chain collaboration, aiming to foster advanced technological opportunities and talent development.

He underscored frequent collaboration in technology, healthcare, education, and social resilience development to address socio-economic fluctuations and geopolitical challenges.

Cho also mentioned the shared values of freedom, democracy, and patriotism between the two nations, symbolized by references to Czech poetry and Taiwanese folk songs.

Drahoš acknowledged the partnership's importance in aiding Ukrainian refugees and scientific cooperation and expressed hope for deepening ties.

He highlighted rich cultural exchanges, including exhibitions of Czech castles in Taiwan and the upcoming showcase of Taiwan's National Palace Museum treasures in the Czech Republic in September next year.

The meeting between Cho and Drahoš not only reaffirms the strong democratic alliance between Taiwan and the Czech Republic but also sets the stage for future collaborations in various sectors, promising a continued partnership in facing global challenges.
