Thousands Join Far-Right March in Warsaw on Poland's Independence Day

Thousands of people turned out in central Warsaw on November 11 to join an annual far-right march marking Poland’s Independence Day.

A court ban on the event was overturned with help from the governing Law and Justice (PiS) party, Reuters reported. The move drew criticism from opposition groups and leaders, including the mayor of Warsaw, Rafal Trzaskowski, who said the party was supporting extremism and hate.

The march had been marked by violence in recent years, but this year passed through the city without major incidents, police said.

This footage captured from a building on Jerusalem Avenue shows the march progressing from the Roman Dmowski roundabout toward the national stadium.
