Travel Disruption in France as Anti-Pension Reform Strikes Continue

Travel and services disruption in Paris and around France was expected on March 7 as unions and their supporters took to the streets for a sixth day of national strikes against the government’s proposed pension reforms.

Footage by Florian Philippot, president of the Eurosceptic Les Patriots party, shows vehicles with tricolors and party banners near the Arc de Triomphe, during what Philippot said was “l’operation escargot” along the Champs-Elysees.

Police said forces were mobilized across Paris to supervise the demonstrations, and the SNCF, France’s national railway company, said that train services would be severely disrupted due to the strikes. Continued disruption is possible, with unions calling for ballots on rolling strikes.
