Uber Shootings Suspect Dragged Out Of Court

A former Uber driver accused of killing six people in a Michigan shooting rampage has had to be dragged out of court after an outburst which left a witness in tears.

Jason Dalton was hauled from a Kalamazoo courtroom by security officers on Friday morning after interrupting testimony with rambling statements.

He began talking about "old people with black bags" and saying: "You need to get to temple."

Judge Christopher Haenicke stopped the hearing as Dalton appeared to try to stand and deputies removed him.

Survivor Tiana Carruthers, who was on the witness stand, began weeping uncontrollably during his outburst.

Ms Carruthers was shot multiple times on 20 February outside a Kalamazoo-area home.

She was the first of eight victims, six of whom died, in a spree spanning three locations around the city.

Ms Carruthers told the court that she still sees Dalton's face "every time" she goes to sleep, adding: "I hurt every single day."

Police have quoted Dalton as saying a "devil figure" on Uber's app was controlling him during the shootings.

He was driving for the taxi-hailing service that night.

At Friday's preliminary hearing, the judge decided there was probable cause to send Dalton to trial on murder charges.
