UN chief Guterres meets Zelenskiy in Kyiv

STORY: The U.N. was doing all it could to enable the evacuation of a steel plant where fighters and civilians are holed up in the city of Mariupol, Guterres said after the talks.

The meeting was held after the U.N. chief met Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow earlier in the week and offered to help evacuate Mariupol, the besieged port where the war's bloodiest and most destructive fighting has raged.

Russian forces have reduced large parts of Mariupol to ruins around the vast industrial complex and its underground catacombs.
