Anti-Government Protesters Clash With Venezuelan Security Forces in Caracas
Anti-government protesters clashed with Venezuela’s securty forces in Caracas on Thursday, April 6, after opposition leaders led marches through the city.
The footage here shows protesters charging at a group of police motorbikes on a freeway that cuts through the city, forcing the police to turn and drive away.
According to reports, the clashes began after marchers changed course towards the center of the city but were blocked by security forces.
These protests – the latest in a series of demonstrations against President Nicolas Maduro and his government – were sparked by a Supreme Court decision on March 30 to strip power from the opposition-controlled National Assembly. The Supreme Court has since withdrawn the ruling, but the move drew criticism and condemnation from Venezuelan opposition politicians and foreign governments.
