Anti-Government Protesters Take to the Streets in Budapest

Protesters took to the streets of Budapest on December 2, in opposition to the controversial policies of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s government. According to local reports, an estimated 5,000 people gathered at Budapest’s Opera House to protest the failures of Hungary’s government and political elite in the quarter of a century since the fall of communism.

This protest took place on the anniversary of an anti-government rally held at the same location three years ago. Most recently, Orban’s proposed internet tax triggered widespread demonstrations , drawing an estimated 100,000 people in Budapest on October 28. Credit: Instagram/mericdural
