Blue Cut Fire Turns Sky an Eerie Orange in Hesperia

Smoke and light from the raging Blue Cut Fire nearby turned the evening sky an otherworldly shade of orange in Hesperia, California, on August 16. According to the Hesperia Police, Sultana High School has become an overnight shelter for evacuees.

Government fire agencies report that the Blue Cut Fire is now covering 30,000 acres and is fueled by dry, windy conditions. They report more than 80,000 people evacuated in San Bernardino County, and approximately 34,500 homes affected. Containment remains at zero as of August 17, according to media reports.
