Coffs Harbour Police Investigate After Bouncer Punches Patron
Police do not believe a security guard at the Coffs Hotel committed an offence when he apparently punched a patron at the venue’s entrance on Friday, March 17.
Footage of the incident shows a man talking to a bouncer at the entrance to the Coffs Harbour pub before he is punched, forcing those nearby to intervene.
In a post to Facebook on March 27, the hotel confirmed they had responded to the incident by acquiring a new security team.
According to the Coffs Coast Advocate, publican and hotel owner Marty Phillips was “shocked” by footage of the altercation, which involved a member of the public who had been banned by the hotel for two weeks prior.
NSW Police told Storyful an investigation was being conducted by Coffs-Clarence Local Area Command.
“Police reviewed CCTV which shows the entire incident from a different angle and do not believe any offences have been committed by security,” a police spokesman said. “Enquiries are continuing and police would still like to hear from any witnesses who have not yet come forward.” Credit: Madeline Richardson via Storyful
