David Miliband Pledges Aid to Refugees in Irbil

David Miliband, former leader of the British Labour Party and president and CEO of the International Rescue Committee (IRC), was in the Kurdistan region this week to pledge his organisation’s support to refugees there. Thousands of people have fled the advance of the Islamic State in Iraq in recent months, and the UNHCR expects up to 1.5m people to be internally displaced in 2015.

Miliband tweeted, “Huge needs and more to come in Kurdistan. Proud to see the IRC making a difference one life at a time in Suleimaniya.”
