Escaped Military Blimp Lands in Pennsylvania

Two F-16 fighter jets were scrambled from the Air National Guard base in Atlantic City, New Jersey on October 28 after an unmanned military surveillance blimp detached from its moorings at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland. The 243-foot-long helium-filled blimp broke away at approximately midday on Wednesday, before drifting to to an altitude of 16,000 feet, according to reports.

The blimp landed safely late on Wednesday afternoon in the vicinity of Pennsylvania’s Moreland Township, according to reports.
