High Schoolers Take Over San Francisco Streets, Protest Police Brutality

Students protested against police brutality on Friday, December 11, in San Francisco. The protest happened as the family of Mario Woods, who was shot and killed by police on December 2, said they would file a suit against the city. Most of the protesters were high school students who walked out of class, according to local media.

Woods was shot by five police officers multiple times in the Bayview area of the city, and several videos captured the sequence of events. Police have said Woods, 26, was raising a knife at police when he was shot, but Woods’ family and attorney said police opened fire before he raised his hands.
