These Homemade Tater Tots Will Make You Feel Like a Kid Again |
Just like you’ll never outgrow glitter, you’ll never be too old for Tater Tots. The only difference now is that you can have them whenever you want (well, within reason). Try this recipe for a delicious homemade version that will totally bring out the tot in you.
What You Need:
- 1½ pounds russet potatoes, grated
- 2 tablespoons minced parsley
- 1½ tablespoon kosher salt
- 1 tablespoon corn starch
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- 1 ounce white cheddar cheese
- Freshly ground pepper
- 2 tablespoons canola oil
Step 1: Preheat the oven to 400°F. Peel and grate the potatoes either by hand over a towel (if you are also looking to get a good arm workout in) or in a food processor.
Step 2: Wrap the grated potatoes in the towel and wring out any excess water. Put the potatoes in a bowl and microwave for 2 minutes.
Step 3: Add the parsley, salt, corn starch, onion powder, cheese and pepper to the potatoes and mix using two spoons until thoroughly combined.
Step 4: Place a piece of parchment paper on a baking sheet and brush it with canola oil so that there is a thin layer over the whole piece of paper.
Step 5: Time to roll those tots! This recipe makes about 21 tots, so each one should contain about 1 tablespoon of potato mixture. (Hint: The tots are easier to roll if you wet your hands first.)
Step 6: Brush those babies with a bit more oil, then pop them in the oven for 10 to 12 minutes. Rotate the baking sheet and return them to the oven for another 10 to 12 minutes. Serve warm.
