Hundreds of Cops Line Fifth Avenue to Pay Respects to Steven McDonald

Hundreds of his fellow New York cops, along with Mayor Bill de Blasio, attended the funeral of NYPD Detective Steven McDonald at St Patrick’s Cathedral in New York on January 13.

McDonald, 59, died at a Long Island hospital on January 10. He had been paralyzed for 30 years, since being shot by the 15-year-old Shavod “Buddha” Jones, a suspected thief.

McDonald was famous for forgiving the shooter, and saying he hoped he could find “peace and purpose in his life.” Credit: NYPD via Storyful
