Kumamoto Earthquake Damages Roads and Walls

A 6.2 magnitude earthquake hit Kumamoto in Japan’s southwestern-most island Kyushu on the evening of Thursday, April 14, killing at least nine people and injuring hundreds of others. Authorities feared more people were trapped under the rubble of collapsed buildings. People in the town of Mashiki, one of the hardest hit, were forced to spend the night outside. Around 16,000 homes were left without power and 38,000 were left without gas.
