Moscow Police Arrest Activists, Block Protest
Russian riot police preempted a planned anti-corruption demonstration in Moscow’s Red Square on April 2 by detaining a number of activists and blocking off the area ahead of the event, according to Russian opposition media reports.
Numerous scuffles with police were reported during the arrests, as is shown in the video footage.
At least 500 protesters were arrested across Moscow during widespread protests against the Russian government on March 26. The recent protests were spurred by a report released in early March by a group affiliated with Russian opposition politician Alexey Navalny, which accused the prime minister of accumulating funds for assets through charities and NGOs.
