NASA Image Shows Dark Side of Moon, From a Million Miles Away

Cue the Pink Floyd. Now we can get a good look at the “far side” of the moon, shot by the Deep Space Climate Observatory satellite, one million miles away. The images were taken by the Earth Polychromatic Imaging Camera, a four-megapixel CCD camera and telescope aboard the satellite. From a position between the sun and the earth, the satellite monitors solar winds for NOAA, hence this view of the far side of the moon illuminated by the sun. Credit: YouTube/NASA
