North America's Oldest Asian Elephant Gets a New Home
North America’s oldest Asian elephant bull has a new home at the Oregon Zoo. Packy was born in Portland in 1962 and was the first Asian elephant born in North America in nearly 50 years and the first to survive, according to the zoo.
Now at 54 years old, Packy brought his family to their new, outdoor habitat exhibit on Thursday, July 21, and he spent 12 hours exploring every inch of the new exhibit. Parts of his exploration can be seen in this video. Credit: YouTube/Oregon Zoo
